ADULT POVERTY is a rarely talked about public health issue, getting significantly less attention than child poverty.

Adult poverty causes child poverty.

This hui provides a range of perspectives about what public health practitioners can contribute to this important field of work.

Without the prerequisites of health – food security, adequate shelter -  it is difficult for communities to take on board health messages of any kind.

Public health needs to wrestle with the complex structural determinants of health as well as healthy lifestyle issues.
