Briefing to the Incoming Minister (MARCH 2024)

The Public Health Association of New Zealand (PHANZ) is dedicated to supporting the government’s health priorities under the leadership of Minister Dr Shane Reti.

Our commitment is driven by a shared vision to enhance the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders, with a specific focus on timely and equitable health interventions.

This report outlines our alignment with and proactive measures to support the Minister’s health priorities, including faster cancer treatment, improved immunisation rates, and the reduction of wait times in both emergency departments and for elective treatments.

We also underscore our committed support for the empowerment of Māori health through the retention and support of the Hauora Māori Advisory Committee and the empowerment of Iwi Māori Partnership Boards.
