Policy Position Statements – for review

The PHANZ has developed a framework to support how we identify, prioritise, and develop policy position statements, to ensure all policies help achieve the goals and priorities of the PHANZ, are evidenced-based, align with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and reduce inequities and improve the hauora of all people in Aotearoa New Zealand. 

As part of this Framework, the PHANZ reviews existing policies (generally on a 3-yearly cycle) to ensure PHANZ policies remain relevant and fit for purpose. 

The PHANZ kaimahi are currently working with the Policy Subcommittee to review and update the following three policies:

• Water Quality, Nitrates and Health Policy Statement

• Equally Well: Improving the physical wellbeing of people who experience mental health and addiction issues Policy Statement

• Community Water Fluoridation Policy statement

The PHANZ invites individual members, branches, caucuses, and special interest groups to provide any comments/feedback regarding these three policy position statements, with a deadline of 30 April 2025.  In particular, please give consideration to the scope, the recommended actions, and any new evidence or policy in that area of public health. These will be considered by the PHANZ kaimahi and the Policy Subcommittee as part of the review and updating of these policy position statements.
